A jovial, bustling atmosphere that’s alive and well after more than 120 years
Opened all the way back in 1896, Bouillon Chartier Grands Boulevards is the big brother of the family.
The setting remains intact: an immense dining room with its brightly lit mirrors, hanging chandeliers, surfaces in sculpted wood and gleaming copper, and even the rack of little drawers where regulars would keep their napkins back in the old days. In 1989, the restaurant’s decor was even added to France’s registry of cultural heritage.
Look closely and you might spy the painting by Germont, which the artist gave to the restaurant in 1929 to pay off his tab!
The words we live by:
“A proper meal for a modest sum”
Starters from €1, main courses starting at €7, ice creams and desserts from €2… A proper meal in Paris for less than €20, in good times or in bad – that’s the Bouillon Chartier commitment.
Non-stop service, no reservations
